Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Welcome to the 10th International Conference on "Bioinformatics and Bioengineering (BIBE-2010)" which will take place in Philadelphia, USA, between May 31 and June 03, 2010. As in previous years, the event will be sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the leading professional association for the advancement of technology with over 375,000 members in more than 160 countries, and co-sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society.

This conference series is a prime venue for scientists from diverse fields and disciplines to participate in the presentation, discussion and evaluation of the latest advances, research challenges, and opportunities that Bioinformatics and Bioengineering bring to modern science.

As the boundaries separating various disciplines continue to melt away when scientists participate in the inter-disciplinary activities that serve society at large, the current approaches in Bioinformatics and Bioengineering reach deep into problems in biology, medicine, energy, and the environment. Acknowledging this, the conference will take place at a Medical School, a first for this conference series. "Bioinformatics & Bioengineering 2010" will be held at Jefferson University, the second oldest medical school/hospital in the United States, which has generously offered access to their campus facilities.

The program will cover a wide spectrum of timely topics central to Bioinformatics and Bioengineering and to the scientific questions addressed by these fields. A cadre of outstanding Area Chairs will lead the review and selection process of oral and poster presentations in an exciting set of subjects. Finally, Keynote presentations by leading researchers, and tutorial lectures by recognized authorities will complement the rich program.

We anticipate a very exciting and highly informative meeting, and look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia!
